Beach Lifeguarding for Okaloosa County Beach Safety

The road to becoming an open water beach lifeguard is most definitely, one less traveled. Simply completing the basic open water lifesaving and medical response training academy requires a high level of dedication and both, physical and mental fitness. This is an industry of true professionals who take the responsibilities of protecting life, to heart. Our community has the highest expectations of it's public safety professionals. Only those who are able to meet these expectations without exception are selected.

Applicants will be contacted by Beach Safety staff to schedule a day for your "try-out" and interview, after the completed application is received. 

Seasonal Lifeguard Pay:
                                        Academy Training Pay: $ 18.00
                                        Completion of Certification : $19.00                               

Returning Guard Requirements: 500m swim in 10 minutes or less, 1 mile run in 10 minutes or less and 1/2 mile run in 4 minutes or less.

Rookie/Academy Training Requirements: 500m swim in 12 minutes or less, 1 mile run in 10 minutes or less.
